During my summer trip in Newfoundland a beautiful moth decided to come pay a visit. Sitting there as the moth settles on my leg, I thought about starting post secondary and living away from my family. Moths have for me personally been a symbol of change and transformation and that was exactly what that moment and this print means to me. My choice of a rainbow roll in warm colours was inspired by how moths awaken at dusk and their attraction to light. I feel attracted to all the new experiences college will bring for me. The use of blue and violet is to complement the warm tones, add scenery, and to replicate water. Not only in that moment did I feel “Newfie”, but I felt at peace and ready for my change.

Overlapping nature and transportation can be a fun concept. Comparing two different types of beetles is a playful concept to work with, with use of digital studies in the creation of the work.
